What’s up! I’m Kat, a solo traveller and festival junkie from Sydney, Australia. In 2018, I will be travelling around the world in an attempt to attend 52 music festivals in 52 weeks, spreading happiness, positivity and inspiration along the way. Together with my friend Kyle, I will be exploring 24 countries across 5 continents and documenting every single moment of it.
The idea of travelling the world attending a music festival every single weekend has been at the top of my bucket list since I was a child and I am beyond excited to not only be living out my childhood dreams but sharing the experience with the rest of the world. My goal is to spread peace, love, unity and respect to as many peoeple as I can and continue to inspire others to do the same.
In the summer of 2015, I went on my first real adventure with my best friend on a 2 month party trip around Europe. This was when I experienced my first real music festival and I can easily say it was one of the best weekends of my life. Unfortunately, we decided to go our separate ways after this weekend and I was left stranded alone on the other side of the world for the first time in my life. Absolutely terrified, I eventually learnt that the world isn’t actually as big and scary as I thought it was and I fell in love with the idea of being alone in a new city. Although the trip didn’t go according to plan, I learnt a valuable lesson:
You don’t need to rely on others to have a good time!
After abandoning the rest of the trip and booking a last minute flight home in time to go back to uni, the idea of being on the other side of the world simply would not leave my mind. With a festival ticket and accommodation paid for and a flight going to waste, I decided I was going to finish this trip. I gathered up a tonne of my belongings and put them up on eBay and within a week, I was back on a plane to Europe to finish what I had started. Nine days, three countries, twenty-six DJ’s and the party of a lifetime, I stepped out of my comfort zone and went to five nightclubs and a music festival ALONE and had the time of my life! At this point, I realised that if I wanted something badly enough, I would find a way to make it happen!
Since then, I’ve travelled solo to over 50 festivals all over the world and have made countless memories and lifelong friendships while somehow managing to balance uni, full time work, elite training and video editing in between. I’ve also been documenting my travels online and found that being able to share happiness, positivity and inspiration to people all over the world is something that I’m truly passionate about. At the end of the year, I will finally be graduating university, quitting my job and spending the whole of 2018 travelling the world in attempt to tick off something that has been at the top of my bucket list since I was a child:
52 festivals in 52 weeks!
